The route
Hike beneath towering limestone cliffs, explore the picturesque village of Loutro and follow spectacular coastal paths overlooking the Libyan Sea.
Along the way, discover the ancient harbour of Phoenix, historic fortifications and the secluded coastal settlement of Lykos.
Marmara Beach
Our adventure ends at Marmara Beach, where the impressive Aradena Gorge meets the sea. Enjoy breathtaking scenery, crystal-clear waters and the opportunity for a refreshing swim.
Before you go
This is a coastal trail with rocky ground and exposed sections, so previous hiking experience is recommended. Bring good hiking shoes, at least 1.5 litres of water, sun protection and your swimsuit.
Hiking with Crete it!
We are based in Kalyves, Apokoronas, and organise guided nature hikes across Crete. We keep groups small and walk at the pace of the group.
What is included
- A Professional Mountain Leader who stays with the group for the whole hike
- Transport, with pick up from Chania town and its suburbs, Stalos, Agia Marina, Platanias and the whole Apokoronas area
- Hiking equipment: safety helmets where required and trekking poles
There is no fixed price: we quote per group, depending on group size, season, any extras you want to add and the difficulty of the route.
